Oleksandra Liakh completely shatters stereotypes. A beautiful girl, a talented biologist-scientist, conducting molecular research at one of the most prestigious universities in Switzerland, where she was personally invited. As a model, she conquers catwalks, creating impressive female images. She loves sports, dancing, cars and cooking. And now, she combines her biological knowledge with programming in international IT companies.

You are an incredibly multifaceted person, who is engaged in science, modeling, sports, and has knowledge of several foreign languages as well as having a passion for cooking. Have you always aspired to encompass everything from childhood, or did this need arise due to circumstances?
Most likely, my curiosity for everything has been there since childhood, and circumstances have adjusted this. I started learning French at the age of nine when I was invited to a host family in France as part of a school program. At the age of twelve, I started working part-time (I remember my first wages as a promoter). I first found my passion for modeling in Geneva. Currently, I am affiliated with several Swiss modeling agencies, and have collaborated with various brands and worked at international exhibitions. Furthermore, one of the requirements for models, for example, at the renowned Geneva International Motor Show, is knowledge of at least four languages (ideally, French, German, Italian, and English).
As for biology and medicine, they are not just professions for me, but a lifestyle. In my opinion, science is like a sport where discipline is essential. To achieve results, one must work hard and give their all every day. It is a constant dedication to self-improvement.

When the offer to study at the University of Geneva came, you had already completed your studies as a biologist in Ukraine and worked in a laboratory. How did the university learn about you?
The University of Geneva found out about me through my scientific work and articles. There, I conducted research in the field of transplant immunology. For me, stem cell transplantation was the perfect project. Due to such research, thousands of patients suffering from malignant tumors, immune disorders and metabolic diseases are successfully treated every year.
Has staying in Switzerland somehow changed you, your life priorities, and rules?
Absolutely, Switzerland has greatly changed me and has given me a new perspective on human relationships, friendship, support, time and resource-management. Geneva is a city that has forever dispelled many of my illusions, which was the most challenging period for me. While my education was free, I had to handle all other expenses on my own, which meant I had to provide for myself. Besides the many nuances, this is one of the most expensive cities in the world and I had to work part-time (as a model, babysitter, tutor) to make ends meet. Balancing part-time work with studies and a scientific project turned out to be more difficult than I anticipated.

Could you tell us how you happened to be into the IT field?
When I returned to Kyiv after my studies, a big international IT company was looking for a biologist/medical professional with fluency in English and French. That's when my journey in the IT field began. To my surprise, I learned that the company had such high standards that not all experienced IT professionals could pass their interviews, but I was immediately invited to work for them.
You are not only incredibly intelligent but also unbelievably beautiful, able to cover any magazine. Do you dream of creating collections of women's clothing as a designer? What kind of garments do you envision, and what image of a modern woman do you aspire to embody?
Becoming a designer would be the ultimate dream. When I have free time, I enjoy selecting fabrics and creating unique outfits. My vision as a designer would have to be elegance with a feminine style, this has always fascinated me. My specific style would embody flirtatious designs for every occasion in life.

You are a highly organised person. How many months ahead do you plan your schedule? In the future, do you wish to continue pursuing multiple areas simultaneously or focus on one thing?
Currently, I plan my schedule months in advance, but circumstances are often making adjustments. However, I love to focus on one thing at a time, allowing for deeper immersion and specialization in a particular area.
It is important to find a balance that aligns with personal values and allows for personal growth and fulfillment. As the saying goes by the incredible Gandhi "Your values become your destiny".
