Oscar winner, Julianne Moore, talks about her role in Pedro Almodovar's &ldquo;The Room Next Door&rdquo; and emphasizes the importance of female relationships on screen.

Julianne Moore is one of the most elegant women on the planet. She has walked for Chanel, has a close relationship with Tom Ford and is a regular front row guest at Bottega Veneta and Dior shows. And yet she faces the same challenge as many other women: finding shoes that are comfortable but stylish. &ldquo;I'm happy to wear uncomfortable shoes on the red carpet, but I refuse to do it in New York,&rdquo; she says with characteristic candor. &ldquo;It just pisses me off! I think: why can't I find a normal pair of shoes? I end up wearing some ugly sneakers or wearing the same boots until I get bored.&rdquo;
It may seem inappropriate to reduce a woman with such a wealth of acting experience only to the choice of shoes. But the first thing she does during our online interview is cheerfully comment on my red hair, instantly creating an atmosphere of sincerity and comfort. She is extremely specific, caring and natural.

Moore is a woman who deeply values female friendship. &ldquo;A friend is someone who becomes a witness to your life,&rdquo; the actress reflects. &ldquo;Romantic relationships are driven by something else - attraction, the desire to start a family. It's a different type of connection. And female friendship is when someone just decides she likes you and is willing to go through your whole life journey. Reflects your experience in the world. I've had friendships like this at every stage of my life, and they've always been incredibly meaningful and influential. The company, the joy and the pivot you get from connecting with another woman is the feeling that you're not alone, that someone has been through a similar experience and is willing to support you.&rdquo;
The conversation naturally turns to the actress' latest project, the film &ldquo;The Room Next Door,&rdquo; an adaptation of Sigrid Nunez's novel &ldquo;What You're Going Through.&rdquo; This is the first English-language movie by Pedro Almodovar, where Moore plays together with Tilda Swinton. At first glance, the picture is heavy, with Swinton playing Martha, a woman with terminal cancer who has decided to resort to euthanasia, and Moore as her friend Ingrid, who is by her side in her final days.
&ldquo;It's amazing that it's so rare to show real female friendship in movies,&rdquo; says the actress. &ldquo;Usually women in movies are mothers and daughters, sisters or rivals, but never just friends. And for most of us, these are some of the most important relationships outside of family. Seeing that on screen, for me and Tilda, was really moving. It was profound to recreate that kind of relationship between women.&rdquo;

Moore and Swinton playing together is a real treat for the audience. Much of the movie is the story of the two characters, where the actresses perform Almodovar's typical dialogues masterfully and naturally. Ingrid, played by Moore, is particularly realistic in her experiences and discomfort in the face of death.
Working with Almodovar became for the actress is a dream come true. She never thought she would get this chance, given that all of the director's previous films have been in Spanish. &ldquo;It was a complete surprise when I opened my email in the morning and saw a note from Pedro saying he was making a movie in English with Tilda and wanted me to join,&rdquo; says the actress.
Moore has worked with some of the greatest directors - Steven Spielberg, Paul Thomas Anderson, Ridley Scott, the Coen brothers, Todd Haynes, Julie Taymor. She has starred in independent films and blockbusters, comedies and heartbreaking tragedies. For her, the most important thing is to be part of a compelling story.

&ldquo;When it comes to movies, streaming or theaters, one thing is important to me: there are always stories. There are always places where people can see themselves, whether it's in movies, streaming or television,&rdquo; states the actress. &ldquo;We keep creating stories, and they're getting more complex and deeper. I'm thrilled that I can still do it, find interesting material and see lots of avenues for creativity.&rdquo;
For Moore, acting remains a game. She has enjoyed studying American Sign Language, opera singing, flower arranging, horseback riding, guitar playing and cooking. &ldquo;I love the teachers and the experts,&rdquo; she says with characteristic warmth. - &ldquo;I am truly touched by their generosity and willingness to share skills.&rdquo;

Every appearance of Julianne Moore on the red carpet is a real gift for fashion fans. This year she appeared in a gold Bottega Veneta gown at the Venice Film Festival, in a silver sequin-embroidered Valentino at the Governors Awards and in a sculptural Schiaparelli gown at the premiere of &ldquo;Mary and George&rdquo; in London.
&ldquo;I have a strange relationship with fashion,&rdquo; Moore admits. - &ldquo;I love fashion in real life, but I don't want to be noticed. It's important to me to look ordinary and like everyone else. Fashion is not an armor for me, but instead a way for me to feel vulnerable.&rdquo;
