Kim Jones has unveiled Dior's capsule collection for the 2024 winter season in collaboration with iconic streetwear brand Stone Island.

A shared passion for perfection and excellence in processes and garments shapes the legacy of Christian Dior and Massimo Osti, founder of Stone Island. In the collaborative collection, the romance, rigor and history of Parisian haute couture ateliers meets Northern Italian machine craftsmanship and meticulous functional detailing. It is romance, rigor and meticulousness that define Dior menswear today: it is the know-how of today.
Traditions are transformed, both in terms of technique and material, but also in terms of attitude and mood. From the functional and military-inspired Stone Island to the haute couture roots and exclusive tailoring of Dior. In both cases, it's not just about functionality, practicality or handcraftsmanship, but the time-honored approaches of both houses that are respected, honored and developed in new ways.
"The alchemy of color" is the central theme of the collection. The shift to the use of almost exclusively noble materials transforms the outcome of the garment dyeing process. Signature colors and silhouettes from the Stone Island archive are used and transformed in intensity. For example, Stone Island's archival jacket in Raso Gommato color for the Fall/Winter 1988-1989 season, originally made of cotton and rubber, is now in cotton silk with embossed leather.&nbsp;
A series of signs and symbols unite the houses in the collection from understated to more direct. A "double pleat" motif, borrowed from Dior's spring-summer 1952 haute couture collection, runs through all the garments. At the same time, internal structures are often defined by Stone Island's characteristic "Dutch rope" fastening and detaching system. Rope and compass rose mascots are used throughout, from quilted to leather construction. The Dior logo is juxtaposed with Stone Island's iconic button-down compass badge, but now in silk and stitched with a rope motif.
The footwear is also transformed and hybridized. Boots and derbies - a classic element for Dior - are influenced by the design of mountaineering boots and complemented by a thick sole developed by three moldings. The sneakers from Stone Island's collection are made of cotton sateen and embellished with a Dior Oblique pattern. While the bags represent perhaps the clearest representation of what men's savoir-faire is today. Here, high luxury is combined with high functionality, and the material and finish conceals ease of use and technical specificity.
