NYFW: 80s Tailoring at Proenza Schouler
Not so long ago Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez, designers leading Proenza Schouler, returned to the New York Fashion Week calendar. Lately, the pair had been experimenting with haute couture and sports clothing, and their latest collection has reached the perfect balance, combining structured tailoring with fabulous draping.
The designers got their inspiration from the women in their office, many of whom have started having children and therefore had to find the balance of their new life. They were inspired by their mothers as well, evoking memories of how they used to dress for work - which explains the 80s proportions of jackets with strong shoulders and pants with high waists.
