Higher temperatures, lighter, colorful and relaxed clothes on a daily basis and plenty of vitamin D. With summer holidays and the heat, outdoor activities increase. Many people take advantage of this time to take more walks, travel, exercise and end up spending more time exposed to sunlight. Therefore, skin care must be redoubled, as radiation reaches the skin in a more intense way at this time, increasing the risk of burns, blemishes, sagging, premature aging and even of contracting cancer.

To enjoy only the best in summer and keep your skin healthy, without worries and complications, adopting some preventive measures in your routine makes all the difference! However, skin care during the season raises some recurring doubts: what to do with acids? What to use to not harm? Thinking about it, M&aacute;rio Farinazzo, plastic surgeon and professor of face trauma and rhinoplasty at UNIFESP, spoke about the main recommendations and tips of what to do and not to do during the sunny days.

Take care of yourself from the inside out

Some products are great allies in skin maintenance, especially in the summer. However, internal care contributes - and a lot - to the proper functioning of the body and to maintain the health of the skin.&nbsp;Oral hydration, that is, drinking plenty of water, linked to a balanced diet, is essential to make the skin more beautiful and lush. Eat foods with carotenoids, for example, carrots, squash, papayas, apples and beets, which offer an antioxidant action.

It is best to use acids in times when solar radiation is not as intense as in summer. If you are going to the beach or pool frequently, it is best to put your acid aside for now. Now, if you live in a place that is very hot most of the year, but you have a routine without so much exposure to the sun, the use of the acid can be adjusted. M&aacute;rio Farinazzo advises not to carry out treatments that contain acids during the day. &quot;All of these treatments that are more superficial, like fractional CO2, all the technologies that aim at peeling the skin so that you have a renewal, they are more indicated in times when the radiation is not so intense,&quot; he explains.

The sunscreen should be used daily throughout the year, especially in the summer. This is because our skin is exposed to various types of radiation, even indoors or in any other environment. Therefore, it is important to apply protection over the entire area of the skin that is exposed to the sun, even if you are not exposed directly, that is, it should normally be spread over the entire face, arms, shoulders and legs.

The product should be used according to each type of skin, avoiding dryness, which is the most common change in the skin during the summer and the development of diseases. &ldquo;Sun protection can be done with sunscreen in the way we already know, with a SPF of at least 30 or higher, in addition to clothing and accessories. There are specific fabrics for sun protection that are important and should be used &rdquo;, warns the expert.

For those who have some type of inflammatory process

Due to the high temperatures and the higher incidence of ultraviolet rays that occur during the summer, extra care is needed for those who has rosacea or solar melanosis, which worsen in these climatic conditions. The use of sunscreen and appropriate clothing are essential.&nbsp;For those who have acne and rosacea, the exacerbated oiliness can worsen the condition. So, pay attention when buying the sunscreen compatible with your skin and inflammatory process, to avoid irritating and further damaging your skin. &ldquo;The use of the sunscreen and the radiation itself make acne worse, and that gets another name: solar acne. In addition, there are also mycoses. Because it is a hot and humid season, in regions such as the feet, groins and armpits and scalp, there is a greater tendency to develop fungi, because they like this hot and humid environment &rdquo;, warns Farinazzo.

The sunscreen should be applied 30 minutes before exposure to the sun. If you do not enter the water, a thin layer of the product should be reapplied every two hours throughout the day. However, if entered, it must be reapplied with a SPF 30 or higher more often. In addition, do not expose yourself to the sun after 10am or before 4pm.

At night, after removing the sunscreen product, it is important to clean&nbsp;and moisturize your skin properly. &quot;It is recommended to take baths that are neither too hot nor too long, with a more neutral soap, compatible with the type of skin. After that, it is possible to use some type of astringent and then use a moisturizer with some type of skin soothing, which may be irritated by radiation&quot;, explains Farinazzo.
