Xenia Ocheredko is a model with distinguished international reputation. We decided to talk to Ksenia to have a better understanding of how her career began and which qualities a modern fashion model must have to succeed.

Ksenia Ocheredko (or Xenia Oche - that&rsquo;s how she calls herself on social media) is originally from the Far East of Russia but considers herself a citizen of the world. &ldquo;When somebody asks me where I am from, I simply say I am an international. I have lived in Spain, spent some time in Switzerland, Argentina, Greece and USA, among others. My mindset has enriched greatly thanks to that international experience.&rdquo;

Ksenia has worked with brands such as Mango, L&rsquo;Oreal, Karl Lagerfeld, but her career started with local market jobs and trips to neighboring Asian countries. &ldquo;My model agency at the time informed me about a casting for a TV-show. I went and I got in! It was really exciting for me, since the show was about aspiring models and I learnt some practical modeling skills there which I apply even to this day.&rdquo; Television gave Ksenia enough exposure to keep working and believing in herself. &ldquo;I decided to try myself in Europe. Spain was actually good for my career, because the market is rather diverse. I&rsquo;ve worked for swimwear look books, bridal catalogs and TV commercials. At this time I was convinced that the dream of my life is to be a successful model. Process of creating a photo or video project is a process of creating art. Dedicated professionals get together and build something completely new and unique. It&rsquo;s a contribution to the world.&rdquo;

When Ksenia got signed with a New York based agency she concentrated on this new market. &ldquo;I have been to the United States before on short student trips and I have always felt that this country is the land of opportunities. Most intelligent, driven and talented people come to build their future here. When I returned as a professional model I quickly could see it for myself.&rdquo;&nbsp;

Ksenia sees her strong points are in ability to adjust to the needs of any brand. She says a model should be able to act sweet or strong depending on a situation. When a model enters a casting of a shoot location he or she must evaluate the situation very fast, must be able to feel what is expected of them, what is the concept and main idea of the project and how to express it. &ldquo;There are just some professional tips. Of course your individuality and unique features is what makes you stand out. A smart model knows how to highlight those features.&rdquo; The model says she is lucky with her measurements. &ldquo;I think the industry changed a lot. Most of casting directors now prefer a healthy-looking and fit body type. &ldquo;Swimwear and night gown modeling requires a beautiful curve, but at the same time you mustn&rsquo;t forget that runway outfits usually come in sizes 0-2. Take care of your body and keep balance in everything.&rdquo;&nbsp;

To conclude, the look is really important in modeling business. As well as some luck, says Ksenia. &ldquo;Nobody is perfect and models know it. I have been very lucky with my shoe size for example, it is tiny for my height and footwear brands just love me. But I always work hard on staying in shape and dedicate lots of my time to fitness.&rdquo; Of course, one should be lucky enough to appear in the right place on the right time, but this opportunity must be created, thinks Ksenia. How? By being professional, by working on your people skills, by not letting a failure or fear discourage you.
