Cindy Cederlund – fulfilling dreams beyond imagination

The beginning of her modeling career is like a fairy tale about a small-town girl who, as if by accident, is drawn into the vortex of fashion and modeling passions. But fashion is not the whole world of the well-known model – Cindy Cederlund has founded a film production company together with her partner, and the first successes have already been achieved in this field as well.

How and at what age did you get into the world of modeling? Tell us about your first project as a model.

My best friend from childhood was fascinated by the world of fashion and beauty. She spent hours flipping through magazines, admiring the elegant models and gorgeous outfits. It all came to me unexpectedly – one summer afternoon a fashion scout visited our town looking for fresh faces. My girlfriend encouraged me to participate in the selection as well, but I refused at that time. Then the unexpected happened – on my 17th birthday, as a special gift, she presented a letter with a note that I had been selected for an interview. It turns out she had signed me up for the audition without my knowledge. Nervous but full of determination I stood in line with other applicants. When it was my turn, I entered the selection room quite anxious. I was asked to walk here and there and even though I had no experience, I tried my best. A few days later I received a call – I had been selected for a local fashion campaign. That's how I started my modeling career.

How did your progress continue?

I developed my skills in front of the camera and found mentors who encouraged me on this not-so-easy path. My career was constantly evolving. I participated in several photo sessions, fashion shows in Europe, and also cooperated with a model agency in Los Angeles. With each opportunity I gained confidence and developed my own unique style. Through hard work and passion for fashion, my journey from small-town dreamer to aspiring model now inspires those around me. I am also very grateful to my childhood friend, who allowed me to believe that sometimes, using an unexpected opportunity, dreams beyond imagination can be fulfilled.

You have worked with various well-known brands. Which projects are you most proud of?

I am proud of the many projects realized during my career and I am grateful for each one of them, because it is a valuable experience. Perhaps some of my best memories are when I had the opportunity to work with famous and even legendary photographers. They have a unique style and vision that can be career-defining for models, providing iconic images that the fashion world is interested in.

Your image graced the Times Square building in New York in an ad. How did you feel at that moment?

Exited, of course! Especially since my parents were skeptical of the industry. But I was finally able to tell them, "Look, I did it!".

What do you enjoy most about modeling and what are the biggest challenges?

There are many aspects that I really like. First of all, I adore the artistic expression that modeling gives me. Whether I'm embodying a character in front of the camera or showcasing designer outfits on the catwalk, I appreciate the opportunity to bring the creative imaginations of others to life. I also like the variety and excitement that each task brings. Starting with fashion photo sessions in picturesque locations and ending with cooperation with talented makeup artists and stylists. Every day brings new experiences and challenges that inspire and motivate me. At the same time, I would say that between glamor and creativity, the biggest challenge for me is maintaining balance in my personal life. The unpredictable nature of modeling jobs often means long hours, frequent travel, and time away from family and friends. Finding ways to stay sane and connected to my loved ones while pursuing my career is a constant balancing act that I've learned over time. But I know a lot of people feel the same way, no matter what industry they're in. It is part of an international career. So when I'm at home, I try to be with my loved ones as much as possible.

You wear Gucci, Peter Dundas, Dior outfits and jewelry on red carpets. Which designer (brand) clothing do you choose to wear every day?

My mom always cared about quality and always made sure that my sister and I wore clothes made from natural fabrics. So, on a daily basis I don't really wear designer clothes, but I wear clothes made from fabrics like wool, silk and cashmere.

Your photo was featured in the exclusive 2022 Pirelli calendar, photographed by Bryan Adams. Please tell us about this collaboration!

Brian is a true artist. I love Brian's songs, especially "Everything I do, I do it for you", which was the soundtrack to the movie "Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves" starring Kevin Costner. This song is one of my favorite love songs, so it was a great honor to work with its author on set. It's impressive how extremely talented he is, and also as a photographer. There were a lot of interesting people on the set of the calendar and the atmosphere was very relaxed. Everyone had a great time between takes, telling fascinating stories. It was a fantastic experience. Now about my character. I didn't get a chance to buy a calendar either, so I don't really know what my pictures look like. I'm sure the Pirelli team did a great job. Unfortunately, it's hard to keep track of the content you've worked on with model work. You never know where or when it has been published.

You were the producer of the film 'How Kids Roll'. Please tell us about that experience.

I have a diplomatic education as well as a degree in the entertainment industry. I have worked with such Hollywood studios as Paramount and Disney. I'm really passionate about film and the humanities, so when I got the script for How Kids Roll, I knew I wanted to be a part of this project. It's a beautiful story about two children (one Israeli, one Palestinian) who live in the Gaza Strip and form a friendship through their passion for surfing, even in spite of the conflicts that surround their environment. We shot it in Tunisia, and although it was a big challenge, it was an unforgettable experience. Last month the film premiered in Rome and Pope Francis congratulated our team and blessed our film.

This is quite incredible as this has never happened before in the Vatican.

This is just the beginning of our journey and so far, the experience has been wonderful. And I look forward to continuing because fashion is just one part of my life
