FENDI Casa unveiled its new 2023 collections at recent Milan Design Week 2023, in its Milan boutique located at Piazza della Scala, a space where the minimal yet powerful d&eacute;cor revolves around the architectural element of the round arch, which has become a signature motif for FENDI symbolising a contemporary culture rooted in classicism.

Previously unreleased products and new collaborations trace a clear line, under the creative direction of Silvia Venturini Fendi: that of a multifaceted collection, with items brimming with character inspired by a passion for raw materials and skilled craftsmanship - down to the smallest detail, which is often the foundation of a design.
The three core concepts of the line - Crafting, linked to craftsmanship, Family, with its cosy atmospheres, and Vibrant, with its strong, glamorous flair - interact constantly and increasingly, creating a versatile style lexicon rich in inspiration.
A recurring feature of the collection, even if only as a detail, is leather: a homage to FENDI's heritage and mastery, a strong connection that becomes all the more evident. An approach that extends from the world of fashion to include the world of design. Colour defines a codification of elegance: starting with tobacco and beige to gradually arrive at soft, sophisticated greys and pinks.

Some core design elements evolve to become even more essential, such as the use of tubular components - in metal and in high-quality wood variants - to comprise seats, table bases and beds. This is what Bauhaus edified, revisited here from a completely new perspective, in which the precision of lines meets the preciousness of materials: as if to remind us that the year of FENDI's birth, 1925, is also the year in which Marcel Breuer designed the Wassily chair, an icon representing a new way of considering furniture.
It is with this awareness in mind that the Totu range (a contraction of the phrase &ldquo;Total Tubular&rdquo;) designed by Toan Nguyen continues to grow: seats are complemented by a table with a marble top (an extraordinary pink quartzite), a coffee table, a bed, bedside tables and an ottoman. The frame, initially in metal, is also available in wood. Always with the FF logo - placed at the ends of the tubular components - as a distinguishing feature.

The FENDI Casa 2023 Collection is further enhanced by three important seating solutions.
Peekasit (designed by Controvento Studio under Gabriele Chiave, formerly creative director of Marcel Wanders Studio: a collaboration that FENDI Casa has as an exclusive for the Salone del Mobile 2023), inspired by the cult bag bearing the same name: a soft, organic-shaped leather shell houses a generous padded cushion covered in fabric or soft sheepskin. With a button - yet again, a detail that becomes the signature of the design - to emphasise the connection point between the curves of the backrest.
Blown (also by Controvento) is a modular seating element that is inspired by the concept of the FENDI Pequin pattern, the logo-no-logo stripes, which has become three dimensional and enlarged: horizontal bands with two different thicknesses form seats and backrests as part of a system that can be arranged in ever-changing landscapes, in the home or for the contract sector. Moreover, offered with a wide selection of upholstery options.
Taiko (design by Piero Lissoni), with its large, rational, square shapes, is another modular system where the combination of cushions - bolster cushions and square cushions, to be layered randomly - ensures the utmost comfort. With details and processes borrowed from the world of high-end leather goods, such as applied leather bands that convey preciousness while giving a handcrafted, textured finish at the same time.

Other important pieces in the collection are the Eros table (Dimorestudio), where its linear base is glamorised by the use of metal lines that accentuate the width of the two plinths and of metal in the tubular element that connects them, with end caps embellished by the logo; the Ottavia chairs (Cristina Celestino), dining chairs with a soft shape marked by allusions to the arch, a visual element linked to FENDI's DNA.
Two new designs have been added to the bedroom area: a reinterpretation of the Delano bed (a FENDI Casa design), with a pair of small tables/bedside tables incorporated into the headboard, and the bed from the Totu series (Toan Nguyen), with linear feet, a sleek, softly contoured bed frame (which is upholstered) and leather accents on the headboard.
FENDI Casa's lighting collection unveils a new very high-level partnership with the historic brand Louis Poulsen, featuring a new version of its emblematic designs. The famous Artichoke pendant lamp is offered in metal, with a pattern created using the FENDI logo, or in yellow glass, with a single petal embellished with the FF logo. Two other classics, PH Floor and PH Table (also in a bedside version), have a shaft in Old Bronze finish and a yellow diffuser.
The carpet range has been expanded to include two new patterns: Stalagma, circular, has an uneven contour with a sophisticated layering of colours, like a panoply of brushstrokes; Walata, rectangular and with a more ethnic flair, revisits Eskimo, a pattern from the Maison&rsquo;s archives, in wool, jute and leather.

Dutch designer Joost van Bleiswijk designed the display windows using the arch motif as a starting point. In his design, steel elements with a brass and sand ground are arranged one after the other, shaping a sinuous line that traverses and outlines the space. Van Bleiswijk explains his concept as follows: &laquo;My work is firmly anchored in quality and craftsmanship. I wanted to use the arches as a direct reference to FENDI but also to ancient Roman architecture, an important part of Italy's cultural heritage. The elements of the installation are created using a physical, noisy process. However, the arches they trace are light and delicate. The flexibility of the elements conveys a sense of elegance and beauty. It is my homage to a company that embodies the same qualities&raquo;.
A language that bridges fashion and design takes shape - and brings an aesthetic mind-set steeped in history, refinement, awareness, continuous aesthetic experimentation and excellent workmanship into the sphere of the home. A trajectory that shapes a captivating idea of style.
