Pre-sales of online tickets began for the new season of concerts of the Rīga Jūrmala Music Festival, which will take place in Riga and Jurmala from July 10th to August 30th, 2020.

The pre-sale of concert tickets only applies to online tickets, and will be available with a special discount of 30% off.

&ldquo;This year, tickets will be available through the Festival&rsquo;s own ticketing system, which is a friendly, modern and convenient method of purchasing tickets for both local and international ticket buyers,&rdquo; explains Zane Čulkstēna, Executive Director of the Festival.

To ensure maximum availability for as diverse an audience as possible, tickets for the evening concerts at the Latvian National Opera and the Great Hall of the Dzintari Concert Hall are priced from 15 to 190 Euro, while daytime concerts, which will take place at the Great Guild and the Small Hall of the Dzintari Concert Hall, are priced between 10 and 45 Euro. During the pre-sale period, everyone is offered a special 30% discount (applying to tickets from 25 Euro). Students and pensioners will have a 20% discount, as well as all classical music representatives, who will be able to use a discount code sent individually to classical music and educational institutions. Bearing in mind that a 30% discount applies during the pre-sale period, additional discounts will not apply.

20 excellent classical music concerts will take place over four weekends in July and August 2020.

During the first weekend, the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra will give two concerts at the Latvian National Opera with new Artistic Director Lahav Shani at the helm (the soloist on 11.07 will be cellist Gautier Capu&ccedil;on; on 12.07, pianist Andr&aacute;s Schiff); a solo concert will be given by legendary pianist Sir Andr&aacute;s Schiff (10.07, LNO); young pianist Yoav Levanon will perform a solo programme (11.07 at 12:00, Great Guild); and vocal group The King&rsquo;s Singers will present their programme Finding Harmony (12.07 at 12:00, Great Guild).

The second weekend will be centered around concerts from the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra and conductor Manfred Honeck in the Great Hall of the Dzintari Concert Hall (the soloist on 17.07 will be pianist H&eacute;l&egrave;ne Grimaud, while on 19.07 the soloist will be pianist Nelson Freire). Three concerts will be held in the Small Hall of the Dzintari Concert Hall: a concert of chamber music by violinist Mar&iacute;a Due&ntilde;as and pianist Julien Quentin (18.07 at 12:00); a solo concert by pianist Maria Jo&atilde;o Pires (18.07 at 19:00); and a solo concert by pianist Mao Fujita (19.07 at 12:00).

The third weekend is centered around the Saint Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra and its long-standing Artistic Director Yuri Temirkanov, giving concerts at the Latvian National Opera (15.08 with soloist pianist Behzod Abduraimov; 16.08 with soloist violinist Daniel Lozakovich). On 14.08, violinist Leonidas Kavakos and pianist Enrico Pace will give a chamber music concert, while the daytime concerts at the Great Guild will be given by pianist George Li (15.08) and Latvian pianist Daumants Liepiņ&scaron; (16.08.).

At the centre of the fourth weekend will be concerts in the Great Hall of the Dzintari Concert Hall by the Philharmonia Orchestra and Grammy award-winning conductor Vladimir Ashkenazy (28.08 with soloist pianist Alexandre Kantorow; 30.08 with cellist Truls M&oslash;rk). Concerts will be given in the Small Hall of the Dzintari Concert Hall by pianist Alexandra Dovgan (29.08 at 12:00), baritone Matthias Goerne and pianist Leif Ove Andsnes (29.08 at 19:00), as well as tenor Long Long and pianist Israel Gursky (30.08 at 12:00).
